why does this now require Python 3.12?

can you please at least release a 1.x version for Python3.8 and up just with the setuptools fix?

For now, i will continue the fork https://pypi.org/project/docxcompose3/ which supports 3.8+

I've made a new release 1.4.1 that does not depend on pkg_resources from setuptools.

Continuing to support Python 3.8, which is already end-of-life, would be too much effort.

The issue is that before the setup tools fix, it was supported back to 3.8.

The fix was done at the same time or after as the 3.12 change.

Therefore, anyone on 3.8,3.9,3.10 are now stuck with a version that doesn't work.

The issue should have been fixed and then pushed a version that still supported those.

Then switch to 3.12+ only
