EDMC Participation in a Research Study

Hello all!

EDMC has been requested to participate in a research study by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the United States.

The researchers are asking permission to monitor the project and engage with community developers contributing to the project regarding type annotations in dynamic languages such as Python, the core language of EDMC. As someone who's conducted research studies and conducted academic research myself, I'm a strong proponent of assisting student researchers in attempting these sorts of projects. As such, we will be allowing the research team to study EDMC.

This study will not impact the development of EDMC nor will it impact any code deployed to users. Your Experience With EDMC Will Not Change. However, as this does put outside eyes on EDMC, I feel it is prudent to inform all users of EDMC what this will entail for EDMC.

What will this mean for EDMC?

1. For Users: No Impact. Nothing will change.
2. For Developers: Submitters to EDMC may be prompted for an optional reply by the study's TypeChangeBot. While I will be participating, it is not required nor expected for contributors to engage with the study's bot.
3. For Plugin Developers: No impact. Nothing will change.
