Personas in Sable are quite experimental and it would be unhelpful to flood the issue tracker with all the things Personas need to get out of experimental. This is an effort to streamline development of Persona/PMP support in Sable and make it highly usable for the usecase of plural system proxying.

Persona Shorthands

(Prefixes, Proxy tags, etc)

• Support shorthand latching per-room and global (like pk;autoproxy latch) Add persona latching when using shorthands #1435
  • Latching is a behaviour that adds a room-associated persona after a message with shorthand is sent
• Fix edge cases where shorthands are not used
  • Cannot send a shorthand with an image
  • Shorthand might not be used if a message contains a newline (Will be fixed by Add PMP shorthand editing in Settings #1352)
• Make sure shorthand proxy behavior is unambiguous when multiple shorthands could be used
  • Specced in MSCF002
• Fix spoilers breaking when using a proxy tag/shorthand #1307
• Write tests for proxy tags

Persona Picker

(GUI persona switching in room input)

• Add global persona tracking (Add Account-wide persona toggle in Persona Picker #1264)
• Getting room profile on first render does not load properly. Ameliorated with a hack currently, but may require a fix in getAllPerMessageProfiles for better behavior.
• Change sort order
• Create groupings of personas in the picker (e.g. for subsystems, different talksprites)
• Pin personas to the top of the picker
• Use a popover(?) on mobile, similar to GIF picker (Persona picker style tweaks #1368)

Persona Settings view

• Add loading feedback in Persona settings menu #1369
  • Persona editor's Save button lacks visual feedback #1276
  • Creating a new persona lacks visual feedback (as the operation takes a while to load)
• Add PMP shorthand editing in Settings #1352

PluralKit Compatibility

• PluralKit JSON Import (blocked by Impl MSC4461: Storing per-message profiles for users #1589)
• Finish command interface

  • Front is an ordered group of personas. pk;autoproxy front will set the first fronter as a global persona.

Miscellaneous PMP Bugs/Feature requests

• "Copy message" on a PMP proxied message copies the fallback name
• Replying to a PMP proxied message shows the fallback and account display name instead of PMP name
• Cannot alter a PMP on a message after sending it (pk;reproxy) Allow changing/editing PMP on messages #1586
• Add extended profile features (bio, animal identity, name colors Add PMP name colors #1462)

• Publicly indicate front/last used PMP in room so read receipts and typing indicators can use the persona's name

• Option to disable fallback creation completely.
