We invite you to attend the inaugural CarpentryCon Conference hosted from May 30th to June 1st 2018 at the University College Dublin on behalf of the Carpentries (Software, Data and Library Carpentry). Please see the conference website for information on speakers, sessions and registration (http://www.carpentrycon.org/). Prior to this conference, on the 28-29 May 2018, a Data Carpentry training workshop will be offered to a limited number of local students and researchers free of cost (https://malvikasharan.github.io/2018-05-28-Dublin/).
The Carpentries (https://carpentries.org/), a global nonprofit which teaches foundational computational and data skills to researchers, is holding this meeting for the members of their community of volunteers. CarpentryCon 2018 will be a learning, skill-building, and networking event for Carpentry community members and interested participants from all around the world. Under the theme “Building Locally, Connecting Globally”, the event will stand on three pillars – community building, professional development, and networking (Read more). CarpentryCon will be a three-day high-intensity event, which will connect people from different communities in both academia and industry. CarpentryCon will provide opportunities for motivated participants to learn and discuss topics that improve the efficiency of their research.
The meeting is hosted by University College Dublin and supported by a number of sponsors including Fáilte Ireland (the National Tourism Development Authority), the Software Sustainability Institute, the Python Software Foundation, RStudio, the Jackson Laboratory, and Overleaf.
Please contact Fotis Psomopoulos (chair) (fpsom@issel.ee.auth.gr), Malvika Sharan (secretary) (malvika.sharan@embl.de), or Norman Davey (local contact) (normandavey@ucd.ie) for more information.
Best wishes,
CarpentryCon 2018 organising committee
