We want HackMate's community — issues, PRs, discussions, Discord — to be a welcoming place for anyone trying to get macOS running on hardware it wasn't designed for. That's already a frustrating enough process; how people treat each other here shouldn't add to it.
- Be respectful, even when disagreeing about an approach or a PR.
- Give constructive feedback — explain the "why," not just "this is wrong."
- Accept that maintainers and contributors do this in their free time. Response times vary.
- Assume good faith. Most confusion here is a hardware quirk, not malice.
- Harassment, insults, or personal attacks — in issues, PRs, commits, or Discord.
- Publishing someone else's private information without consent.
- Sustained disruption of discussions, deliberate derailing, or bad-faith arguing.
- Anything that would get you removed from most well-run open-source communities.
This applies anywhere the project is represented: this repo (issues, PRs, discussions, commits), the linked Discord, and any other official HackMate spaces.
If something crosses the line, report it by messaging a maintainer directly on Discord, or by opening a GitHub issue that says you have a conduct concern without posting the details publicly — a maintainer will follow up privately, same as the process in SECURITY.md. Reports are handled case by case; possible outcomes range from a warning to a ban from project spaces, at maintainer discretion.
