Mouse mmb add horizontal direction zooming

What problem does this solve?

mmb is vertical in zoom in/out..is not great, and no option to make it horizontal left/right zoom in/zoom out..

Proposed solution

The Maya standard would be nice ie below, but at least add option to switch vertical/horizontal zooming for [mmb]
alt + left mouse button = rotate camera
alt + middle mouse button = pan camera
alt + right mouse button = zoom camera
