🐛 Problem
The customer has observed a recent drop in "Negotiated Savings" within the FinOps Toolkit dashboard and is seeking clarification on the cause. From the Azure consumption perspective, an internal investigation did not identify any anomalies. Usage of Savings Plans (ASP), Reserved Instances (RI), and on-demand charges appears normal, and the impacted VMs are receiving the expected benefits from ASP and RI. However, the customer’s Azure Savings Plan expired on March 18, with new ASPs purchased on March 20 and March 27. The customer would like to understand: - Why the "Negotiated Savings" metric has dropped in the FinOps Toolkit dashboard despite normal resource consumption - What factors influence the calculation of "Negotiated Savings" in the dashboard - Whether the expiration and renewal timeline of the ASP could explain the observed decrease Please advise if this behaviour is expected based on ASP lifecycle events or if further investigation is required.
This is impacting the customer’s ability to accurately track and explain realised savings from committed spend benefits.
🤔 Expected
Negotiated Savings are visualized correctly
