MathJax Issue?

In the WW 2.21 release candidate loading the problem Library/METU-NCC/Diff_Eq/2x2-system-nonhomog.pg locks up my browser window.

I've narrowed it down to the following minimal example:

BEGIN_PGML
[`\quad +`]
END_PGML

It seems like \quad followed by an operator causes the problem.

I suspect that this is a MathJax issue.

This is a known issue with MathJax. See mathjax/MathJax#3578 and https://forums.openwebwork.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=8819.

The work around for now is to downgrade to MathJax version 4.1.1. From the webwork2 htdocs directory execute npm install mathjax@4.4.1.

I think you mean npm install mathjax@4.1.1. We are readying a 4.1.3 release that resolves this and several related issues.
