This app is a nice demo, but it doesn't feel like a finished product. I was so excited when I launched this on scrcpy. It looks so well made and polished! Even more when you use the --new-display and --flex-display options on scrcpy, because you can have a proper 1920x1080 full screen (or any resolution and aspect ration of the monitor you have, like ultra-wide, or even a square for that matter). It looks just like a Windows PC in this mode. It genuinely looks better than what I'm used to, which is Motorola's native desktop mode, Smart Connect.
There are a few big issues though:
You can't open apps in windows other than the few designed for this app
The apps that you can open in a window, can't be resized
Once you open a full screen app (which is virtually every app), it's game over. You will have to close it to exit the app. There is no recent apps management, no minimize, etc. It would be really useful if you could move the mouse to the top or some corner and a title bar shows up, so you can manage the window better.
The README.md states Optionally set HyperDroid as your system’s default launcher for seamless integration, but Cannot choose Hyperdroid as default launcher in settings #45. And I suspect this is the main reason behind all previous points. This is just a full screen app that launches other apps. This is not a launcher.
I really really want to love this app, but at this moment I just can't.
