Stack 3/4, based on #883; additional models follow in #880.

Blackwell: model(context, labels, queries) reaches 1.61× at 512K context rows. Speedup grows from 1.48× at 128K to 1.56× at 256K and 1.61× at 512K, with 1,024 query rows. Cached prediction remains slower; its peak memory falls from 12,475 to 7,081 MiB at 512K.

Enable the attention quantization from Attention Quantization for Tabular Foundation Models (Kübler et al., 2026) through opt-in sdm.optimize. Intermediate ICL layers use FP8 above 8,192 unmasked context rows. Model weights and final attention retain normal precision. Context-derived Q scales make cached prediction independent of query-batch partitioning.

import sdm

model = sdm.models.TabICLv2(task="regression", device="cuda")
with sdm.optimize(attention="fp8"):
    predictions = model(context, labels, queries)
    # Or prepare context once and reuse it:
    model.fit(context, labels)
    predictions = model.predict(queries)

Using an FP8 cache outside the enabled scope raises RuntimeError; re-entering permits reuse. Scope exit restores settings without clearing/converting caches. FP8 dispatch/eligibility belongs to #883; shared attention projects Q/K/V and falls back to SDPA. Cache chunking, CPU offloading, and compilation are supported.

Pretrained TabICLv2 on Blackwell:

Context One model call, ms (speedup) Cached predict, ms (speedup) Predict peak MiB
16,384 46.55 → 40.90 (1.14×) 12.79 → 14.53 (0.88×) 558 → 382
65,536 373.51 → 273.35 (1.37×) 13.48 → 18.34 (0.73×) 1711 → 1020
131,072 1275.79 → 860.07 (1.48×) 19.24 → 28.73 (0.67×) 3248 → 1886
262,144 4734.27 → 3029.23 (1.56×) 31.66 → 50.81 (0.62×) 6324 → 3618
524,288 18251.04 → 11318.70 (1.61×) 56.44 → 95.91 (0.59×) 12475 → 7081

One model call is model(context, labels, queries), including context processing. Cached prediction is only model.predict(queries) after fit, which is excluded from timing. Times/memory show ordinary → FP8; speedup = ordinary time / FP8 time, so below 1× means slower. Memory is peak allocated during prediction with one cache resident.

RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell, FP16 inference, 1,024 queries, six numerical features, one estimator; PyTorch 2.14/Triton 3.8. Matched weights/inputs, alternating synchronized medians: three forward warmups + seven samples; ten prediction warmups + thirty samples. 16K–128K model measurements used 5e72473de with the launch settings now committed in #883. Larger contexts use the actual pushed stack dba0d5b3b, without overrides; their forward timing uses three warmups and three samples per mode.

Cached prediction is slower on Blackwell, despite lower memory. The 1.60× result in #883 measures attention itself. L4's previous model-call speedups were 1.15×/1.26×/1.30× at 16K/64K/128K; cached prediction was 0.92×/1.11×/1.10×.

Pretrained quality probes on the pushed code with 16K context and 1,024 held-out rows: Adult accuracy 83.01% → 83.11%; Housing RMSE 0.432164 → 0.433658 (+0.35%). These small probes do not establish generally lossless quantization. Final-layer FP8 was separately tested and excluded because it further slowed small-query prediction.

The paper reports Blackwell TabICLv2 speedups of 1.37× at 128K and 1.56× at 512K, without a separate warm-cache prediction benchmark.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 6d6ce

The implementation is mergeable with low risk, though deterministic inputs and a stricter fallback assertion would make the FP8 regression tests more reliable.

Control randomness in the FP8 tests. The cited tests call torch.randn without a fixed seed or generator. This violates the test/**/*.py requirement and makes the tolerance-based FP8 comparisons depend on uncontrolled inputs. Seed each test or pass a fixed generator to the torch.randn calls at:

Assert the negative cache type for the fallback.

QuantizedKVCacheEntry subclasses KVCacheEntry, so the current assertion also passes for a quantized cache. Add a negative assertion to detect accidental FP8 dispatch for small contexts.

Addressed both test findings: small-context fallback now explicitly rejects QuantizedKVCacheEntry, and the numerical/cache/compile tests use the shared isolated RNG fixture from #883. This controls model initialization as well as tensor inputs and restores the surrounding RNG state. The focused GPU/model/compile suite passes (56 cases across the stack).
