fix(create-voltagent-app): render the Dockerfile for the selected package manager - #1500
The generated Dockerfile copied yarn.lock* and pnpm-lock.yaml* unconditionally in both stages and picked the install command at run time with an if [ -f … ] block. Docker requires every COPY source to match a file in the build context, so:
an npm project (package-lock.json, no other lockfiles) failed its first docker build at COPY yarn.lock* ./ — the npm fallback in the RUN block was never reached
a bun project failed the same way, and its RUN block would have fallen through to npm ci, which cannot work without package-lock.json
The template now carries {{dockerBaseImage}} / {{dockerCopyFiles}} / {{dockerInstall}} / {{dockerInstallProd}} placeholders and a transform renders them from the packageManager the user picked in the wizard (same pattern as the .env.template transform):
npm: COPY package*.json + npm ci / npm ci --omit=dev
Generated Dockerfiles now use the package manager selected during setup, including its appropriate base image and install command.
Docker builds now copy the project’s existing lockfile instead of assuming Yarn or pnpm lockfiles are present, improving compatibility with npm and Bun projects.
Summary by cubic
Fixes the generated Dockerfile so the first docker build succeeds for npm and bun projects, which previously failed because the template unconditionally copied yarn.lock* and pnpm-lock.yaml*, and Docker requires every COPY source to exist in the build context.
The template now uses {{dockerBaseImage}}, {{dockerCopyFiles}}, {{dockerInstall}}, and {{dockerInstallProd}} placeholders, rendered from the package manager picked in the wizard:
…kage manager
The template copied yarn.lock* and pnpm-lock.yaml* unconditionally in both
stages and picked the install command at run time. Docker requires every
COPY source to match a file in the build context, so an npm project — which
has package-lock.json but neither of the other lockfiles — failed its first
docker build on 'COPY yarn.lock* ./', and a bun project failed the same way
while its install command would have fallen through to npm ci.
Render the lockfile COPY lines and the install commands from the package
manager chosen in the wizard instead:
- npm: package*.json + npm ci / npm ci --omit=dev
- yarn: yarn.lock + corepack yarn install --frozen-lockfile
- pnpm: pnpm-lock.yaml + corepack pnpm install --frozen-lockfile
- bun: bun.lock* on the oven/bun image + bun install --frozen-lockfile

Walkthrough
Generated Dockerfiles now use the selected package manager’s base image, lockfile copy instructions, and install commands. Tests cover npm, Yarn, pnpm, and Bun.
renderDockerfile selects image, copy, and install values for the selected manager, with npm as the fallback. The template uses these values in both build and production stages.
Test and document rendering packages/create-voltagent-app/src/utils/templates.spec.ts, .changeset/dockerfile-per-package-manager.md
Tests check Dockerfile rendering for npm, Yarn, pnpm, and Bun. A patch changeset describes the package-manager-specific Dockerfile behavior.
Generated Dockerfiles for Bun projects fail at the build step because npm is missing from the Bun image. Render a Bun-specific build command before merging; the other package managers look correct.

Explanation
The title names the change: the create-voltagent-app Dockerfile is now rendered for the package manager selected in the wizard. It matches the main change in the changeset. The title is slightly long at 81 characters, but it is specific and related to the changeset.

Explanation
The description covers the problem, the new behavior, and the mapping for each package manager. It also links the issue with 'Fixes #1427'. The template checklist items are not addressed. The description omits the checklist and the 'Notes for reviewers' section, and it does not state whether tests or docs were added. The changeset file is present in the changeset, and the templates.spec.ts file adds tests, so the checklist could be completed. The template's checklist and the What is the current behavior section are mostly covered by the body, so the description is mostly complete.

Explanation
Issue #1427 requires that the generated Dockerfile copy only the lockfile for the selected package manager and run that manager's install command in both stages. At head, renderDockerfile in packages/create-voltagent-app/src/utils/templates.ts maps each PackageManager to its own values: npm uses COPY package*.json ./, npm ci, and npm ci --omit=dev; yarn uses COPY yarn.lock ./ with a frozen-lockfile install through corepack; pnpm uses COPY pnpm-lock.yaml ./ with a frozen-lockfile install through corepack; bun uses COPY bun.lock* ./ with bun install --frozen-lockfile on oven/bun:1-alpine. templates/base/Dockerfile.template uses the {{dockerBaseImage}}, {{dockerCopyFiles}}, {{dockerInstall}}, and {{dockerInstallProd}} placeholders in both stages. The dependency copy and install steps remain before COPY . . in the builder stage, so Docker layer caching is preserved. The base/Dockerfile.template transform passes options.packageManager to renderDockerfile. The new templates.spec.ts tests cover the manager-specific base images, copies, and install commands for all four managers. The Bun glob bun.lock* also matches bun.lockb. Non-coding items in the PR (changeset) are not assessed. Limitation: Docker build and runtime behavior were not executed. The Bun image does not include the npm and node commands used by the unchanged RUN npm run build and CMD ["node", "dist/index.js"] lines. The issue does not require these lines to change, so this does not change the result.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changed files relate to the issue #1427 objective. The Dockerfile.template change replaces the fixed lockfile copies and runtime install detection with rendered placeholders. templates.ts adds the per-manager mapping and the transform call. templates.spec.ts tests that mapping. The changeset describes the same fix for create-voltagent-app. The .env copy, non-root user, dumb-init, and dist handoff are unchanged, as the PR description states. The oven/bun:1-alpine base image change applies only to Bun projects and is needed for the Bun install path. No unrelated change was found in the reviewed summary or in the inspected files.

Use bun run build when the selected manager is Bun.
The Bun Alpine image does not install npm. For Bun projects, the builder stage runs RUN npm run build after bun install, so the Docker build fails with a missing npm command. The image provides node only as a symlink to Bun, so npm is not available as a fallback.
Move the build command into DOCKER_SETUP and render it like the other commands. Bun uses bun run build. The other managers keep npm run build.
