Hi, I'm Eddie Cosma! 👋

I'm a pharmacist based in Cleveland, OH. I graduated from The University of Toledo with my PharmD and subsequently completed my PGY-1 Pharmacotherapy residency at University Hospitals of Cleveland. My career followed me into the inner workings of the hospital pharmacy at The MetroHealth System, first as a staff pharmacist and now as a Pharmacy Informatics Specialist. Here, I spend my days advising, querying, investigating, analyzing, configuring, and coding my way through the myriad problems that arise from the endeavor of delivering care in a busy, modern health system. When I am not cutting the heads off that Hydra, I enjoy baking bread, reading literary fiction, running outside, making espresso, and tending to my vegetable garden.

💻 Tech I Work With

When I am lucky enough to reach for code as a solution to a problem at work, I mostly rely on Python, SQL, and MUMPS. For the uninitiated, MUMPS is simultaneously a database older than SQL and a programming language older than C (or B, for that matter)—1it's worth messing around with.

The possibilities of the early internet enraptured me to the point that I taught myself HTML/CSS and PHP in the late 90s and early 2000s. As a result, I take joy in developing for the web, even though I don't do it much day-to-day. Before my wife and I were married, I coded our wedding website.

🌱 Community Involvement

Anurag and I co-host the Cleveland Python Meetup (CLEpy), where we have monthly presentations on tech-related topics. Come hang out with us every second Tuesday at Happy Dog.

I volunteer and organize for Cleveland GiveCamp, which brings together nonprofits and volunteers annually in a weekend sprint focused on advancing those nonprofits' technical goals.
