Coffee CLI is a native desktop workspace for AI CLI agents — Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Qwen, OpenCode, and more. Use desktop-style conversations or native terminals, run multiple agents in parallel tabs, and drive them with keyboard shortcuts via Gambit — all with a fully localized interface in 11 languages.
This is not a web app. Not an Electron wrapper. A true native desktop app built with Tauri (Rust core), engineered for performance and low resource usage.
Coffee CLI can launch any command-line agent — but the ones below get deeper, purpose-built integration. T1 provides enhanced status and interaction handling. Dedicated Desktop mode is available for Claude Code and Codex CLI; Kimi Code uses the enhanced terminal interface. Lower tiers remain native terminal experiences, with the additional capabilities listed below.

T1 status and interaction detection is hook-free and currently available only for Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Kimi Code. Coffee CLI reads native session events, native titles, or verified rendered-terminal state. Other tools stay in their native terminal UI even when Coffee CLI can read their history.
T1 and T2 CLIs ship today; T3 integrations are rolling in.
Muse Code launches muse in your selected directory. Its session history and heatmap are not integrated into Coffee CLI yet.
Claude Code and Codex CLI offer Desktop / Terminal tabs on their launch cards. Desktop is the default for new installations; saved preferences are preserved. Desktop mode displays conversations, tool activity, permission/input cards, and conversation navigation while staying connected to the native background session. Coffee Agent can read and operate that same desktop-mode session without opening a separate terminal.
AI coding agents are transforming how work gets done — but they speak English, output dense terminal text, and assume you're comfortable with a command line. That leaves out a massive group of capable, intelligent professionals:

Coffee CLI ships with multiple built-in themes. Switch between them instantly — the entire interface, including the active terminal session, updates live. No restart, no flicker. Whether you prefer a dark workspace late at night or a lighter tone during a presentation, one click is all it takes.
Your agent works fast. Keep up with it. The built-in task board lets you create and organize tasks into To-Do / In Progress / Done columns — right in the sidebar while the agent runs. No external tool, no tab switching. Everything the agent is doing and everything you still need it to do, visible at a glance.
Every conversation with every agent is automatically saved. The History panel gives you a full searchable log of past sessions — scroll back through what was said, what was built, what went wrong. Pick up any past session exactly where you left off, or use it as context for a new one.
The Coffee CLI app ships with a fully localized UI in 11 languages — menus, dialogs, shortcuts, and every corner of the workspace speak English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語, 한국어, Español, Français, Deutsch, Português, Русский, or Tiếng Việt. Switch anytime from the settings.

Hook policy: Startup and tool scans do not install, migrate, or remove status hooks or hook plugins. Existing user hooks, third-party integrations, and hooks left by older Coffee CLI versions remain untouched.
coffee-cli launch --tool <id> [--cwd <dir>] skips the launchpad and drops
you straight into a new agent tab — for launcher apps, context menus,
Raycast/Alfred actions, and shell aliases. --tool is any registered tool
id (claude, codex, kimicode, hermes, …); omit --cwd to reuse the
tool's last folder. Already running? The request is forwarded to the
running instance and opens a new tab — existing sessions are never
restarted or hijacked.

Claude Code 和 Codex CLI 的启动卡片提供 Desktop / Terminal 切换。新安装默认使用 Desktop，已有用户的选择会保留。桌面式支持对话、工具执行、权限/输入卡片和对话导航，并持续连接原生后台会话。Coffee Agent 也能读取和操作同一个桌面式后台会话，无需另开终端。

Hook 兼容策略： Coffee CLI 的状态识别不依赖 Hook。启动与工具扫描时不会安装、迁移或清理状态 Hook 及相关插件；用户已有配置、第三方工具写入的 Hook，以及旧版 Coffee CLI 留下的 Hook 均保持原样。

Any fork, modification, or hosted service derived from this code must also be released under AGPL-3.0 — including SaaS deployments. Brand — Coffee CLI, Gambit, Pitch, VibeID, Vibetype (and the 16 individual Vibetype names), Coffee-CLI MCP, Sentinel Protocol, and Hyper-Agent are common-law trademarks of edison7009. Forks are welcome — no need to scrub our name and logo. If your fork honestly credits Coffee CLI as upstream (README, About screen, or product page), you may keep our identity visible (e.g. "Coffee CLI Community Edition by X"). If you prefer to rebrand entirely, that's also fine — just keep the NOTICE attribution. The hard line is commercial SaaS / app-store products literally branded with our marks without permission, or presenting the code as your own from-scratch original work.
