fix: resolve TS/JS monorepo imports per importer and workspace exports - #212
Resolve TS/JS imports with each importer's nearest configuration and declared npm/Yarn/pnpm workspace packages, including conditional exports. Preserve existing relative imports, component/style aliases and persisted indexes through ordinary graph updates.
Add monorepo regression coverage and run it in the existing Windows CI job. Move TypeScript to runtime dependencies and add YAML parsing for pnpm workspace declarations.
Summary by CodeRabbit
New Features
JavaScript and TypeScript imports now resolve using project-specific configuration, including inherited settings, package exports, and declared workspaces.
Svelte and Vue script imports use the same configuration-aware resolution.
Resolved imports are limited to files in the discovered project graph.
CommonJS require imports are recognized during graph analysis.
Bug Fixes
Graph rebuilds now respond to changes in module resolution targets and related configuration or workspace files.

Walkthrough
The code graph now resolves JavaScript and TypeScript imports using each importing file’s configuration and declared workspace packages. The change adds module lookup tracking for rebuild checks, CommonJS import metadata, tests, documentation, and runtime dependencies.
Changes: TypeScript and JavaScript graph resolution

Summary
Workspace discovery and configuration package.json, THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES, src/services/graph-typescript.ts, DEVELOPER.md
typescript and yaml are runtime dependencies. The resolver reads workspace manifests, maps declared package names, and loads TypeScript configurations with inheritance. The developer guide describes this behavior.
Non-relative JavaScript, TypeScript, Svelte, and Vue imports use TypeScript resolution. Results are limited to files in the graph. Graph input records track module lookup targets or absence. Import extraction marks CommonJS require forms. The documentation describes import resolution and graph updates.
Resolution tests and CI coverage tests/unit/graph-typescript.test.ts, tests/unit/graph-input-invalidation.test.ts, .github/workflows/ci.yml
Tests cover aliases, workspace exports, import conditions, configuration errors, and rebuild decisions. The Windows Git Refresh job runs the TypeScript graph-resolution test file.

giancarloerra/SocratiCode#211 requests importer-specific TypeScript configuration and workspace package resolution, which this change implements.
Merge Risk: Minimal · up to 22cfe
No actionable merge-blocking risk was established for the current change; it is mergeable after normal checks.
Security architecture risk: Moderate · up to 22cfe
An untrusted repository can supply workspace patterns that request filesystem scans outside its directory, potentially stalling the application. Returned dependencies remain restricted to indexed files, and no repository-code execution or confirmed data-disclosure path was established.
Retained concerns
Medium · security · inferred: Repository-controlled workspace patterns are expanded synchronously before project containment is checked. Parent-relative or absolute recursive patterns can therefore enumerate outside the indexed root and consume filesystem I/O, memory, and application-thread time. The in-root member check and fileSet output gate occur after that work and do not contain it. This traversal path is introduced by the PR; exploitation requires having a repository containing JavaScript or TypeScript-family files indexed, not permission to execute its scripts.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The workspace traversal concern affects the application process performing the build and filesystem locations enumerable with its existing permissions. The inspected path does not establish privilege escalation, cross-tenant access, or propagation of outside files into dependency edges.
Security Findings and Attack Paths
inferred — An attacker controlling a repository's package.json workspaces or pnpm package patterns can supply broad parent-relative or absolute recursive patterns. Building a graph for a repository with eligible source files passes those strings to globSync. Expansion completes and allocates its results before outside-root members are discarded, creating a potential application-blocking resource-exhaustion path. Runtime impact was not reproduced.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Project-root membership checks constrain workspace admission, and fileSet constrains returned targets, but neither gates filesystem reads. Reading outside-root base configurations already existed through extends before this PR; the new host additionally performs compiler-directed probes. This is not evidence of a newly introduced content-disclosure path.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Unexpected binding-inspection errors propagate rather than being interpreted as absence. The rebuild-decision wrapper conservatively requests rebuilding when it cannot determine freshness. These controls avoid silently accepting failed inspections, but do not bound the earlier synchronous workspace scan.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Match workspace declarations against the already-discovered in-root candidate directories instead of traversing the filesystem again. If expansion remains necessary, enforce traversal containment and work limits before enumeration rather than filtering only its completed results.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names the main change: TS/JS import resolution in monorepos now follows each importer's nearest configuration and declared workspace packages, including workspace exports. The changeset matches this (graph-typescript.ts resolver, per-importer config, workspace package declarations, conditional exports). It is specific and conveys the primary change. The 'fix:' prefix matches the linked issue #211, which asks for monorepo import resolution.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description links issue #211 and summarizes the resolver behavior: nearest config per importer, declared npm/Yarn/pnpm workspace packages, and conditional exports. It also covers preserved relative imports and aliases, added Windows CI regression coverage, and the dependency moves. It does not use the template's section headings (Summary, Changes, Type of change, Testing, Checklist, Related issues). It also gives no bug-fix checkbox, no test-command status, and no documentation-update note, although README.md and DEVELOPER.md were changed. The core content is present, so the check passes, but the author should add the template sections for consistency.
Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Issue [#211] is the only active directly linked issue. Its coding requirements are: (1) choose the nearest tsconfig.json or jsconfig.json per importing file, with baseUrl and paths resolved from the declaring config, extends support, and per-directory caching; (2) discover npm, Yarn, and pnpm workspace members and resolve member names and subpaths through exports conditions and patterns, then types/module/main, then file and index lookup; (3) leave unresolved specifiers external. The reviewed whole-PR summary shows src/services/graph-typescript.ts (createTypeScriptResolver) using compiler configuration inheritance, path aliases, module-resolution modes, and workspace package declarations, with build-scoped config and manifest caching. Requirement (1) is covered. The summary shows workspace member discovery from workspaces and pnpm-workspace.yaml, exports conditions and patterns, and legacy entry-point resolution, which covers requirement (2). Resolved targets are returned only when present in fileSet, and unknown packages produce no edges, which covers requirement (3). Tests in tests/unit/graph-typescript.test.ts cover per-app aliases through inherited configs, workspace exports, pnpm patterns, installed links, and legacy resolution. Relative imports and component/style aliases keep the existing resolver path. The summary does not show the test bodies or the full resolver source, so the verdict relies on the summary's description of the code.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
The core changes implement [#211]: graph-typescript.ts, the code-graph.ts wiring that routes non-relative JS/TS/Svelte/Vue imports to the TypeScript resolver, and the graph-imports.ts isRequire flag, which supports CommonJS require resolution. Supporting changes are tied to the PR description: graph-inputs.ts and its tests record module bindings and realpaths so that workspace link changes invalidate persisted graphs; the new test suite and CI step cover the feature and run on Windows; package.json and THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES move typescript to runtime dependencies and add yaml for pnpm workspace parsing; and README.md and DEVELOPER.md document the behavior. No change is established as unrelated to #211 or the stated PR scope.

Cache the per-config resolution context and TypeScript module resolutions.
Config lookup and parsing already use caches. The returned resolver still rebuilds effective, aliases, the workspace selection, and host for every importing file. It also calls ts.resolveModuleName without a ModuleResolutionCache. This can repeat directory checks and resolution work across importers in a large monorepo.
Keep importer-specific values such as sourceFile and its module mode outside the shared context. Cache the reusable context by effective config and workspace root, create one ts.createModuleResolutionCache(root, f => f, effective) for that context, and pass it to ts.resolveModuleName.
The reads map already deduplicates repeated reads of one package.json. Distinct manifests reached during resolution are still persisted as graph inputs, and decideGraphRebuild checks each one, so avoiding redundant resolution also limits this bounded per-build overhead.
