I've been using system messages to instruct the agent to include chain of thought using the same delimiters. When I do, I'd like the flexibility to also omit these since I don't think they need to be passed around (or at least I want to easily be able to experiment and see what I get one way or the other). Since my understanding is that the <<<<<< ... >>>>>> is intended as a generic thing to be skipped from earlier discussions, this seemed reasonable. (it also means I can choose to omit certain parts by editing).
