Related PRs:

Description:

Allows Symfony 8.1 without dropping 7.4: lockstep symfony/* constraints become ^7.4 || ^8.1 (existing lower bound kept). A project still resolves to 7.4 until every package it installs allows 8.1 (and always on PHP 8.3), so this doesn't change anything for current installs; the edition metapackages are widened last.

Otherwise independent of the other IBX-12041 PRs: a dual range never conflicts with the 6.0 siblings.

For QA:

Verified locally:

  • PHP 8.3 and 8.4, normal composer update: resolves to Symfony 7.4, test suites, PHPStan and code style green.
  • PHP 8.4 forced to Symfony 8.1 (root conflict: <8.1 for every component, all other widened OSS branches as path repositories): every lockstep symfony/* on 8.1, DoctrineBundle 3.3 / persistence 4.2, test suites and PHPStan green.
