It seems that highlighting has so far only been used in cases where there wasn't a background color. Or'ing the bits of the color with the existing background color doesn't make sense.

It seems that highlighting has so far only been used in cases where there wasn't a background color. Or'ing the bits of the color with the existing background color doesn't make sense.
