Summary

  • open gains --proxy, --proxy-bypass, --ignore-https-errors, --user-agent, --executable-path, --init-script, --extension, --state, --allowed-origins and --blocked-origins, so these no longer require a config file; the skill documents the flags and their env var counterparts.
  • Proxy credentials embedded in the URL are moved into username/password, and HTTPS_PROXY / HTTP_PROXY / NO_PROXY are honored when no proxy is configured otherwise.
  • --extension loads an unpacked extension: adds the Chromium switches, drops the default --disable-extensions, uses the bundled Chromium (Google Chrome no longer loads unpacked extensions) and a persistent profile. MCP gets the matching --load-extension.

Every browser launch option that was only reachable through
.playwright/cli.config.json or PLAYWRIGHT_MCP_* env vars is now an
`open` flag: --proxy, --proxy-bypass, --ignore-https-errors,
--user-agent, --executable-path, --init-script, --extension, --state,
--allowed-origins and --blocked-origins. The skill documents the flags
and their environment variable counterparts.

Credentials embedded in the proxy URL are moved into username/password,
and HTTPS_PROXY / HTTP_PROXY / NO_PROXY are honored when no proxy is
configured otherwise.

Unpacked extensions get the Chromium switches, the default
--disable-extensions dropped, the bundled Chromium build (Google Chrome
no longer loads unpacked extensions) and a persistent profile. The MCP
server gets the matching --load-extension flag.
