Next PMS

Next PMS is a Frappe app with a modern React frontend, built to enhance timesheet, project, and resource management in ERPNext.

Table of Contents

Installation

Before installing Next PMS, make sure you have the following apps installed on your site:

  1. ERPNext - core ERP for projects, billing, customers and accounting that Next PMS builds on
  2. Frappe HR - HRMS for employees, leaves and attendance used by timesheets and resource planning
  3. Frappe Gmail Thread - brings GMail conversations into Frappe, powering the project Email tab
  4. Frappe Comment XT - extended comments with mentions used across notes and feedback
  5. Frappe Slack Connector - Slack notifications for approvals and leaves

Install the required apps and Next PMS:

  1. Download the apps using the Bench CLI.

    bench get-app erpnext --branch version-16
    bench get-app hrms --branch version-16
    bench get-app frappe_gmail_thread https://github.com/rtCamp/frappe-gmail-thread --branch version-16-hotfix

    bench get-app next_pms https://github.com/rtCamp/next-pms --branch version-16-hotfix
  2. Install the apps.

    bench --site [site-name] install-app erpnext hrms frappe_gmail_thread frappe_comment_xt frappe_slack_connector next_pms
  3. Migrate the site and restart.

    bench --site [site-name] migrate
    bench restart

For local development, check out our dev-tool for seamlessly building Frappe apps: frappe-manager

NOTE: If using frappe-manager, you may need to run fm restart to provision the worker queues.

Setup

Next PMS requires minimal setup before starting to use it. Please make the changes below on your site.

Projects Settings

As time entries are tracked only by date (not by datetime), we need to allow overlapping entries for both the user and the employee. This will by-pass the overlapping time validation while doing time-entries.

Projects Settings with Ignore User Time Overlap and Ignore Employee Time Overlap enabled

Work Schedule

As each employee can have different-different working hours based on policy, two custom fields are added to Employee DocType to capture employee's working hours and working frequency.

HR Settings Employee tab with Standard Working Hours set to 8

You can setup default working hours for all the employees in HR Settings DocType under Standard Working Hours. If you prefer you can override the values from employee's record.

  • Work Schedule – Specifies whether the working hours are calculated per day or per week, if let blank defaults to Per Day.
  • Working Hours – Indicates the number of hours employee will work based on the selected schedule.

Employee Attendance & Leaves tab with Work Schedule Per Day and Working Hours 8
