I don't think you went over how you got the js format for the obj so I wanted to add this conversion script. Notably the penger I converted straight from the obj was at the origin so I have translation support in the conversion script. Translating the model's Y values down by -0.5 did the trick.
also this pull request [ #3 ] is correct, some funny things happen when you translate the model on the z axis.
