Since a1fcef8 the catalog resolves nitro@3.0.260903-beta while the pinned Nuxt nightly (5.0.0-29806258) still depended on nitro@3.0.260610-beta. With two Nitro copies installed, Nuxt's nitro:dev-service-proxy cannot load nitro/h3 from the second one, so every dev server in this repo answers 500 (Failed to load url nitro/h3 … Does the file exist?). That is why the e2e workflow has hung and been cancelled on every run since the last green one (33fc50c6).

This moves to the current Nuxt nightly (5.0.0-2610052343-36eafab), which depends on ^3.0.260903-beta itself, so a single Nitro is installed again. The nitro@3.0.260610-beta patch goes away with it: 260903 already skips the nitro environment build for static generates upstream (nitro.options.static).

Verified locally: pnpm typecheck, pnpm test:unit (103 passing) and pnpm test:e2e:dev (23 passing; the one cold-start failure passes on rerun and is covered by the CI retry).

Created with the help of an agent.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The workspace adds six Nuxt nightly packages and package-manager-detector@1.9.0 to the minimum release age exclusion list. It updates the @nuxt/kit, @nuxt/schema, and nuxt overrides to a newer nightly build. It also removes the Nitro patch file and its patchedDependencies mapping.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Estimated code review effort: 2 (Simple) | ~10 minutes

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 08a75

A clean standalone assets build may lack the DevTools module output needed for client type resolution. Build the module first or use the Turbo task graph.

Systems and components

  • observed — packages/devtools (library) was modified; 3 changed files map to changed impact.
  • observed — patches (service) was modified; 1 changed file maps to changed impact.

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in patches/nitro@3.0.260610-beta.patch: The patch that guarded builder.build on the presence of a Rollup or Rolldown input was removed. In the patched flow, a missing input skipped the build and supplied undefined to writeBuildInfo; closing Nitro and calling the compiled hook remained unconditional.
  • observed — Modified behavior in pnpm-workspace.yaml: Added six Nuxt 5 nightly packages and package-manager-detector@1.9.0 to minimumReleaseAgeExclude.
  • observed — Modified behavior in pnpm-workspace.yaml: Updated the @nuxt/kit and @nuxt/schema override targets from nightly build 5.0.0-29806258.d070492f to 5.0.0-2610052343-36eafab.

Comment @coderabbitai help to get the list of available commands.

Its nuxi prepare now declares every #build template as an ambient module
and resolves #imports for real, so the ts-expect-error on the settings
import becomes unused and the client plugin's inferred type cycles
through the composables it calls.
build:client re-stubbed @nuxt/devtools through dev:prepare after turbo
had already built it, so a root pnpm build left a jiti stub in dist. The
published package was unaffected (prepack builds only the module), but
everything packing after a root build shipped the stub. The client only
needs the built module for types, which turbo already orders first.

Also use ts-ignore for the #build/devtools/settings import: whether nuxi
prepare declares it depends on the setup, so ts-expect-error fails in one
environment or the other.

Two follow-up commits, both found while getting the stacked PRs green:

  • fix(devtools): keep typecheck green with the current Nuxt nightly: annotates the client plugin to break an inferred-type cycle, and the #build/devtools/settings import now uses @ts-ignore, because whether nuxi prepare declares that template differs between local and CI setups, so @ts-expect-error fails in one of them.
  • fix(build): keep the built module when the client assets are generated: build:client ran dev:prepare, which re-stubbed @nuxt/devtools after turbo had built it, so a root pnpm build left a jiti stub in dist. Published tarballs were not affected (prepack builds only the module), but anything packing after a root build (the ecosystem playgrounds, chore(ecosystem): run DevTools on Nuxt 4 in CI and cover the published kit v3 #1110's Nuxt 4 smoke) shipped a stub that pointed at the repo's source tree.

Build the DevTools module before standalone client generation.

The @nuxt/devtools-assets build script calls build:client directly, outside Turbo’s prerequisite graph. On a clean checkout, nuxi generate client can fail to resolve @nuxt/devtools/* types because the required packages/devtools/dist has not been built. Ensure standalone asset builds build @nuxt/devtools first or use the Turbo task graph.
